Cher Tickets – Vegas Throat Not Getting Her Down

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

As the 62 year old pop icon continues to deny rumors about a recent show cancellation at Caesar’s Palace, more news stations are eager to get the “cancer on” rather than report on the longtime pop singers talents during her 90 minute performance. Nonetheless, http://StubHub.com is always your best source for all the latest former Sonny & Cher star drama, including the best seats in the house for your very own Cher tickets at http://www.stubhub.com/cher-tickets/.

The singer has recently had to deny everything from severe abdominal problems to cancer when she was caught with “Vegas throat.” “If I had cancer, everyone would know it,” Cher told “Access Hollywood” in an interview Friday. “I wouldn’t tell them, but somebody would. When you have those kinds of things happen, if you’re famous, you can’t keep them a secret.” While Cher is not one to be excluded from the spotlight, it isn’t much of a surprise that these rumors have started. With something like three successful careers under her large embellished belt, it comes as so surprise that this legend knows how to keep thing exciting.

This so called “sickness” blows in with the desert air every so often enough that other long time Sin City performers known exactly what she’s talking about. “My health is great. But you know there’s a wind thing that blows there sometimes in different months, and I have an allergy to it. So yeah it’s really hard if you get a sickness and you’re famous. It’s impossible. You have to suffer with the sickness and everyone gets to know it,” she continued during Friday’s taping.

Just enough to spike the rumors to high heaven is her recent announcement to continue her Vegas stint next year. Returning to Caesars Palace in February, Cher plans on keeping her hefty schedule with four nightly shows a week that run ninety minutes long. The first 35 dates are already scheduled and begin at the end of February.

”Cher at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace” has been a staple since last May when she sold out 44 shows and performed for over 200,000 fans, according to a press release. Since the ’60s the world of Cher has been in the public eye. From her public relationship with music partner and producer Salvatore “Sonny” Bono to her work in film (and a subsequent Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Moonstruck), Cher’s comings and goings have always been of media speculation. After a very public divorce and dissolve of the group that got her her star (Sonny & Cher), she kept recording hit records and eventually transitioned into a famous actress. Currently she is recognized not only for her alternative folk days with ex-husband but also for her unique and ever-changing fashion sense. If you’re still not sick of Cher, check out her most recently updated dates, all of which are at The Colosseum at Caesars.

You can get Divorced in Vegas in Two Months

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Las Vegas is the town of quick marriages and quick divorces. Many States in the United States require a person to have resided in that State anywhere from six months to several years before a divorce court will exercise jurisdiction over a divorce.

Not so in Nevada. You need only have lived here for six weeks before you can file a Petition for Divorce. Once the petition is filed, the actual divorce date will depend on several factors including whether the spouse will cooperate, the court’s calendar, and amount of property in dispute, and disputes over child custody. However, if both spouses can agree on everything, then a divorce decree could be filed within a couple of months.

However, there are a few caveats regarding the six-week residency rule.  For instance, Nevada law requires that a person reside continually in the State for the six weeks.  This means that one cannot go to Vegas, leave immediately for several weeks, then come back and claim to be a resident for purposes of jurisdiction.

Another caveat is that you must have the intent to remain indefinitely.  This means you have to show that you intend to really make Nevada your home.  One can do this by getting a Nevada’s Driver’s License, renting a place (I recommend month to month leases). and getting a job.

You must also provide a witness who will testify that you have lived in Vegas for six weeks.

I always recommend that a Nevada attorney handle a divorce.  However, fast, easy divorces, such as the ones contemplated in this article, should not be expensive.  An attorney should charge between $500 and $1500.  More would be expensive for the work involved.

Las Vegas Quickie Weddings

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Ever since Britney Spears got married and divorced within hours in a quickie Las Vegas wedding, interest has definitely sparked again in the concept of Las Vegas weddings, especially the quick ones.  There are chapels all over Vegas that will allow couples to pop in at almost any time, get married, and go about their business.

One of the strangest relationships is the concept of being married by someone dressed as Elvis Presley, with a lot of Elvis memorabilia around.  Elvis Presley signifies Las Vegas, and it has a lot to do with two things.  One, he was the first truly big star to do an extended performance stint in Las Vegas.  Two, he and Priscilla Presley got married in Vegas in a ceremony that only took 8 minutes.  The wedding took place in a suite at the Aladdin Hotel.  Elvis wore cowboy boots; country boy to the end.

Vegas weddings are the second biggest industry in the state; gambling is number one.  The reason is simple; no blood test, no waiting period.  The Marriage Bureau stays open until midnight during the week, and is open the full 24 hours each day during the weekend.  Just walk in, pay your fee, and get married.  Around 5% of all weddings in the United States occur in Las Vegas.

The most famous of the little chapels is called The Little Chapel of the West.  Since opening its door in 1942, it’s been home to many celebrity weddings over the years, including all 8 of Mickey Rooney’s marriages.  Even Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton were married there.

Las Vegas offers celebrities the perfect way to get married quickly, without the press knowing about it until the last minute, if then.  Two stars from the past who did just that were Bing Crosby and Clara Bow, one of the earliest silent screen stars.  Crosby got his license the day of the wedding, right at 9AM, so the reporters wouldn’t know about it.  Bow’s wedding happened under the real story of her being taken from Hollywood for a rest to try to stave off a mental breakdown.  It was decided by her and her boyfriend at the time that they should be married before she spent time with him on his ranch, so it happened on the spur of the moment.

Of course, Vegas is also known for different types of themed weddings.  Some chapels have upwards of 10 different celebrity themes where couples can get married.  They also have ready made witnesses, so you don’t have to worry about that.  All in all, if you’re looking for something quick and glitzy, you can pretty much find it in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Child Custody Lawyer

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Child custody cases are difficult, expensive and emotional, both for clients and their lawyers. Child custody lawyers should be experienced enough, compassionate enough, and tough enough to either negotiate or litigate the easiest as well as the most complex in contentious custody cases that are pursued in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mullins Law Firm for over twenty (20) years has proven it can efficiently and aggressively handle these complex cases on behalf of their clients.

Child custody law in Nevada has undergone dramatic changes as a result of legislative and Nevada Supreme Court decisions.

•There is no longer a tender years doctrine. Mothers are no longer automatically preferred custodians, but have to prove their fitness just as fathers do.

•Nevada law has changed to favor joint legal and joint physical custody arrangements between parents, where the parents have an equal role in child rearing after divorce or separation.

•Non-custodial parents no longer have to settle for a simple every other weekend schedule. Parents are being required to alternate weeks, or divide the weeks equally, unless they can prove why joint physical custody is not in the best interest of their children.

•Las Vegas Child Custody lawyers have to be sharp enough to quickly analyze the given facts to advise their clients about whether to settle for joint physical custody or fight for primary custody. A recent Supreme Court decision has determined a parent having 40% of custody time qualifies as a joint physical custodian.

•Based upon the decision between primary custody and joint physical custody, parents have to deal with changing legal standards. And their decision impacts the amount child support, relocation issues, where the child attends school, tax deductions and other important parenting issues.

•Parents no longer have to have “equal time” to be considered joint physical custodians.

•Complex factors have to be presented to the Court to facilitate a wise decision to serve the best interest of the children, while not destroying the family.

For instance the “best interests of the child” standard is still the paramount consideration of the Court in Las Vegas Child Custody cases; but sometimes the best interests of the child conflict with a parent’s best interests. If the parents share legal and physical custody jointly, there is still child support to be paid by the parent who earns more than the other.

The relocation to another state standards change based upon whether the parents share joint physical custody or whether the moving party has primary physical custody. In Potter v. Potter the Nevada Supreme Court decided to make it extremely difficult for a joint physical custodian to relocate to another state without parental consent. With primary physical custody, a parent can more easily relocate.

Custody lawyers need to know how to advise clients and present custody cases to the Court to help their clients prevail. They should know the nuances in the law, and the individual preferences of the judges on how cases should be handled and presented. Joint physical custody is easier to get, but it impacts child support and even school issues. Parents sharing physical custody who do not live in the same area of Las Vegas often cannot decide which school the child should attend.

The Nevada Supreme Court in the Rivero v. Rivero decision has further complicated the distinctions drawn between primary and joint physical custodians. Child custody lawyers unfamiliar with the nuances of these recent changes in the law can make litigating a family court case difficult for all parties involved. In choosing your Law Firm select an attorney who keeps you informed, is well prepared and up to date on new rulings, so as to ensure the best chances of serving the children’s best interests, be it through settlement or litigation.

Interesting Snippets From The Las Vegas Strip

Friday, February 12th, 2010

The three mile-long Las Vegas Strip, is not just any ole strip. This is the strip of neon lights and non-stop excitement. It is a clockless strip where time stands still and anytime is gambling time. This is the strip where dreams are made and sadly, dreams are broken even more often. Welcome to the Las Vegas Strip, witness to the largest number of rags-to-riches stories…and riches-to-rags stories as well.

So, how did it come to be named the Strip? Police captain, Guy MacAfee renamed this Los Angeles Highway The Strip after he saw the Flamingo, which brought back memories of the sophisticated clubs he had seen on the Sunset Strip. So the story goes…

The Last Vegas Strip started out as Arrowhead Highway and changed several names before settling down with this name that has made it so famous. Some of the other names the strip has been known by include Fifth Street, Salt Lake Highway, Route 91 and Los Angeles Highway.

In 1953, 1,800 hotel rooms were available on the strip and you could stay at a five-star hotel on the strip for a princely sum of $7.50 a day. A room at any motel was cheaper and would set you back $3 a day. A far cry from the 1990’s, when a total of 4645 were demolished after just five resorts on the strip were imploded. The new resorts that replaced the demolished ones have even more rooms than ever before.

In April 1958, an exodus of grasshoppers that visited the city every night and left in the morning, forced casino owners to shut off their neon signs when they realized it was the lights that were attracting the insects.

Speaking of neon lights, in 1966, Las Vegas was reported to be the brightest city in the world. This data was obtained from a satellite that was orbiting the earth at a distance of more than 500 miles. Luxor’s beacon, with an intensity of 40 searchlights, was the brightest artificial light in the world.

There were no red stop lights when the strip first opened. Stop lights were only installed in 1961, after owner and publisher of Fabulous Las Vegas Magazine actively crusaded for them following several accidents.

The Las Vegas Strip is a strip that never sleeps. You can get married or divorced, hire a lawyer or get a hair cut any time of the day or night. All you need in order to get a marriage license issued is valid identification and $55.

With no clocks in sight and non-stop excitement 24hours a day, at the Las Vegas Strip you can do anything you want to anytime you want. It is probably the only place in the world where jet-lag is unheard of.

1. The Good Old Bachelorette Party.  This one is a no brainer.  There is no better place to go and cut loss with the girls than Las Vegas.  The clubs, the men, the parties…There’s no reason to let the guys have all the fun.  There’s a Vegas nightlife out there for the girls too.

3. Birthday Party.  Whether you are just turning 21, 31, 41, or 51 – celebrate!  There is nothing like Las Vegas nightlife to make you feel young again.  You can celebrate your birthday in style.  All you need to do is find the right club with the right party package for you.  There are a ton of clubs out there, but to really do it right, you have to find the club that is going to give you the best party environment and the best people to party with.

5. Weekend Away from Reality Party.  Ever want to just get away from work, family, or your boyfriend?  Escape to Vegas.  You and a few friends can instantly become spa regulars, club VIPs, pseudo celebrities…you name it, you got it.  Just think of that Vegas commercial where the women are in the bathroom switching wigs.  You can be anyone you want…Who’s going to know the difference?  Go crazy!

5.  Who Really Needs a Reason Party.  Seriously, do we really need to have a reason to come to a hot Las Vegas club?  Do we really need a reason to meet great guys, make friends, and have the time of our lives?  The answer is no.  You can make up any reason you want, or you can have no reason at all.  You can celebrate an event, promotion, graduation, etc.  Or, you can celebrate nothing at all!

Marriage Counselor Las Vegas Nv

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

If you’re looking for a marriage counselor in Las Vegas, Nevada or Schenectady, New York, please be aware that in those two cities, and in virtually every city across the nation, marriage counselors have a dismal record for saving marriages. The fact of the matter is you and your spouse have the best chance of saving your marriage – all on your own. The great news is that when you set your minds to saving your marriage, you can make it happen 100% of the time. The only thing standing between you and a happy marriage is 1) the knowledge of what to do, and 2) the will to do it.

Marriage counselors are usually trained psychologists who help people deal with their issues. But issues don’t interfere with a happy marriage. Issues are individual problems every single individual in the world has. If it were issues that prevented a happy marriage, there would be no such thing as a happy marriage because everyone has issues. The cause of marriage failure lies in not understanding what a marriage is.

When I began mediation it was overwhelmingly clear to me people really don’t want to get a divorce, they just don’t know what else to do. Would you get into an airplane and attempt to fly it if you had not read an instruction manual or taken any lessons?

Once you understand the construction of a marriage and which control does what, you can become your own marriage counselor. I have seen more “ah ha” moments than probably anyone, as I explained the most basic and simple premises that make a marriage what it is. Please do not give up hope. Please do not imagine your marriage is in trouble. When you know what to do and you do it, you will have the happiest marriage on earth. And please don’t forget to tell your spouse, “I love you.”
