Booming business in China and a new casino in Singapore led second-quarter revenue up 51 percent for Las Vegas Sands Corp. and helped narrow the casino developer and operator’s quarterly loss, the company said Wednesday.

Las Vegas Sands said stronger casino revenue and efficiency initiatives across its properties helped to narrow its loss during the first quarter of 2010. The Las Vegas-based gaming operator reported a net loss of $28.9 million, or 4 cents per share.

The small Hooters hotel-casino in Las Vegas narrowed its loss in the fourth quarter, its owner reported today.

Southern Nevada hotel-casino operator American Casino & Entertainment Properties LLC today said it lost $17.6 million in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 as the recession led to lower revenue at its properties.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino said it narrowed its losses by about 34 percent last year, according to a filing today with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
