I got married Sept 2008, in Las Vegas, can I file for Divorce in California?
My new marriage is nothing but a nitemare!
This clearly is not the man for me…..Controling, verbally abusive, sneaky, unfaithful, just a real creep!
I want to divorce him right away!!!! And he knows it!!!!!
We got married in las vegas, but live in california….Do I have to go back there or can I go to my local superior court house?

Yes you can file in California. I also got married in Vegas and i lived in California and i got a divorce in California. I went to my cities court house and filed for divorce. It took 6 months to make it final.

divorces are always handled where you live. NOT where you got married.
people who want quick divorces will often to go Nevada because the state has a short residency requirement (6 weeks) before you are allowed to file for a divorce and the divorces are often very fast once you file.
if it’s not convenient for you to move to Nevada to establish residency so you can divorce there then just get divorced in your home state.

Where you married does not matter, you are required to file in your legal state of residence.
CA residence law states you have to live in the state for 6 months and a resident of the county where the case is filed for 3 months.
If you fall into those guidelines then you can file, if not and you don’t want to wait you would have to file for divorce in NV and follow their state laws.
