My cooworker is been wanting to get divorce but his wife is nowhere to be found. He heard somewhere that you can get divorced in Las Vegas with no need of layer for a smaller fee than a regular divorce process.
Can anybody help me out with this one? I told him I would ask you guys, u seem to know a lot!! Lol

No drive thru divorce here. You have to establish residency to file for divorce here which I believe is two weeks. You can do it yourself by getting the forms from the courthouse. The problem comes in that he doesn’t know where she resides therefore there is a notice that has to be posted in the last known residence city. There is a wait for that also which is several weeks.
Not worth it for what you are saying.

Haha…this is good, too bad its false. Drive through marriage, yes. Drive through divorce…not a chance.
You have to file for divorce in your state of residence which is usually where you’ve lived for at least 6 months (some states require less, some require more)
The only way you can divorce without a lawyer is if its an uncontested divorce.

No matter where your co-worker lives have him call the local courthouse and ask if they have a self-help center. IF they live in Vegas, you can go to the self help center at the family court house located on the corner of Pecos and Bonanza. They have all the forms needed to file for divorce with or without knowledge of where the other half is.
No matter where you file it, here or another state, divorce can be reached without an attorney, you just need the proper paperwork, and pay for the court costs. To do it on your own may cost upward $500 or less even.
Remember they will have to file in the county they have residency in……residence means at least 30 days when it comes to divorce, but may require up to 3 months (at least in Nevada that’s how it goes)

I love this question!! So Vegas. But No. No such thing. As a matter of fact you need to be a resident of Nevada to get a divorce here. It’s much easier to get married than divorced. Trust me, I’ve done both here and the marriage part is much easier.
